Joanne Pennington's work evokes the power of emotion. Her "Secrets, Lies, Silence" book could be identified as a person's own questioning of 'self', particularly the effects of depression. This will feature at Know No Bounds.
Her use of materials includes lino cuts, etching and more recently woodcuts, which contrast delicate outlines with strong tonal graphic images.
Melissa George's bookbinding structures have focused on texture, tactility and form. Her fascination with material has led to her making her own paper out of many unusual (or even ordinary!) items, such as lace. Her pamphlet featured below can be previewed at the Know No Bounds exhibition.
Hand bound books sold at the Alternative Press Fair.
Alicia Fernandes's work is guided by social and cultural topics. Mood and underlying humour direct the narratives in her work, which vary from playful to complex. This is realised using printmaking and photography.
Her Four Temperaments book will feature in the Know No Bounds exhibition: a book about the four moods or 'humours' applied to dogs!
Lexi uses various techniques to create her unique book structures. The example below is one made out of wood and leaves, showing a bold, textured book design, one which will be exhibitied in the Know No Bounds Show later this month.
Also using illustration, Lexi has created numerous cards, books, tshirts and bags that form her label Love Lexi.
